Album Notes
HERE IS A WRITE UP FROM 8ZEEN:

Feet First is a New York based punk band. I have to say, I really like their sound. It has traces of some of my favorite bands; specifically Jugheads Revenge, and The Generators (musically and vocally primarily, their lyrics tend to be fun, without any political undertones). Ellis First's voice is perfect for the band, the guitar-the drums, and the back-up vocals all fit together. Not a single thing seems out of place with these guys. Can't wait to find out more!

BACKGROUND INFO:

BASS/VOCALS: ELLIS FIRST
DRUMS: PAT FEET
GUITAR: SCOTT UPCHUCK

We (Ellis First and Pat) played in numerous bands before Feet First formed almost 2 years ago. We had known each other since we were 12 years old: through skating, graffiti, and being from the same area. We also played in a band together from back in the day, which is how we met Ryan Toe-Jamm. He was only 15 then and was down with the P.C. Youth Crew that used to come out to support the local scene. Pat and Ellis First talked about starting a band for one year before, our old guitarist Ryan Toe-Jamm, got home from Iraq. Since we knew him for so long, shared the same roots, he was the perfect candidate and . After one year of playing consistent shows, recording, barely holding onto his job, he left the band.

We had a lot of people in mind, and the one person that stuck out the most was our new guitar player, Doctor Scott AKA Dr. Vomit aka Scotty Up-Chuck. Earlier that year he and his friends came to see Feet First play with: Maximum Penalty, Murphys Law, and Billy Club Sandwich in Yonkers N.Y. As the scene has: ears, eyes, and mouths, we had heard how good a guitarist he was and had heard recordings he had played on before. We were already booked on a N.Y.H.C. show in Manhattan, as well as two shows with: the Casualties, (one of which was in da 914 and included the legendary Blanks77, who had not played a show with the Casualties in almost ten years…. And the other show was at one of C.T.’s legendry venues the EL N’ GEE)…so you can see why it was important for us to find a new guitarist who could learn our songs fast and accurately and bring something to the table. Even though Dr. Scott is from the new school, he shares a lot of the same influences that we have. I.e.: Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, and Dead Kennedy’s.

Roi: So in your Crisis Punx interview you mentioned that you were in the process of finishing the mixing of your new album. Is it finished? What is it called? Are you happy with the way it turned out?

The record is finally done and titled – “LET THE PUNKS KNOW!” We are more than happy with how it came out. We feel that the recording captured what we really sound like and it definitely will give you punks the essence of the feet, without Pat Feet having to take his crusty socks off. So support the cause and buy one from us for $5, or what ever you can give. Feet First is not in it for the money, but solely for the music. We didn’t start playing in punk bands to be famous or rich, we do this because: we like to play music, have fun, meet new people, and keep punk alive and going

Roi: You guys are opening up for acts like The Pist and Murphey's Law...that is really cool! What is your favorite memory of a show you played and why?

In the past 2 years Feet First has played a lot of sick shows, met a ton of great people, and had a ton of good times. We are so honored to play with bands that we grew up listening to and helped mold us into the screw-ups we are today like: the Pist, Murphy’s Law, Reagan Youth…etc…But if we had to choose one specific show that we can all agree on being our favorite as a band, it would be our record release show that we had just had recently, here in the 914. The reason why this show is so important to us is because it proved that the scene was not dead, and that it just needed a little kick in the tush. When we first started having local shows, we only had a handful of people that were good friends of ours who would come out and support the movement. But after playing our CD release show, and having it be the 2nd biggest show that venue has ever had, it really hit home that all of our efforts were paying off. It showed us that more people cared about us then we ever thought would.

Roi: What is it about the 'scene' that you love so much? What would you like to see change within it?

Scenes are formed through unity, one aspect of unity is bringing fiends together not only for the music, but recreationally as there is more to a scene then just shows. We are aware that there are a ton of different scenes and clicks which are all tied together by the music; but what we love is how music unites people. In a nutshell, our scene is all about unity and supporting those who support you, and the things you like. But by no means does Feet First support “scenesters” because we don’t feel that you have to look or act a certain way, just because everyone else in the scene looks or acts a certain way. Part of what punk has always meant to us has been thinking for your self.

There are many things that need to change in the scene. But if I have to pick out one, it would be to eliminate the system of “scene points. People need to stop acting like they are so f-n cool, get over themselves, and stop thinking and acting like they are such celebrates. When it comes down to it, all that Cool Guy BS doesn’t matter anyways.

Roi: What's your favorite beer?
We all feel very strongly that Old English is a quality beverage and it is Ell!s First’s favorite beer. Pat Feet enjoys a 40 of Old-E from time to time but New Castle is his poison of choice…and because Scotty Upchuck is underage, he enjoys any beer he can steal from his fathers fridge.

Roi: Hahaha! Do you like the police?
Pat Feet’s favorite drummer of all time is Stuart Copeland. Sting was much better back then… Now he is just a little weird.

Roi: What exactly would you like to "Let the Punks Know"?
During our first band practice we came up with the slogan as a joke, but the more we looked into the meaning behind the joke, the more evident it became that a lot of truth & strengnth exists in these four words. I remember one of the first things we related to ‘Let the punks know!’ was that for the most part, music had taken a turn in the wrong direction, and was starting to suck! When did new school metal become the main stream, and Hot Topic leach onto, and exploit our sub-culture and what punk is.
But this is only one of the interpretations we came up with, as the saying can have a ton of other meanings, and can basically be used with anything. For example:
Let the punks know! To support their local scene.
Let the punks know! That scene’s are only formed through unity.
Let the punks know! To take showers + brush their teeth because hygiene is important.
Let the punks know! That the scene is not dead, but tends to move in cycles like “the ocean” (read the lyrics to our song)
